SOCIAL GROUP MEETING AT SAMARA MS SOCIETY
(REGIONAL NEWS) The social group of the MS society in Samara held a meeting on 31 January 2008, where the issues the organization faces with regards to implementing the project ‘Enhancing Rehabilitation Services Accessibility for Disabled People’ were comprehensively considered. The project goal is to establish an institution of social assistant, who would work to provide quality social and psychological support and rehabilitation for people with disabilities, as well as to improve health of, and to ensure access to medical and social rehabilitation for, disabled people with multiple sclerosis.
The project is oriented at a particular target group of disabled persons, who are wheelchair-users (foremost, including persons with MS and other neurological disorders), and patients’ families.
While carrying out the project, new facilities will be developed to ensure access to medical and social rehabilitation services for disabled people with MS. The activities of social assistants are already at work and they meet consultative support to help them provide social and psychological support and rehabilitation to disabled people.
