Giving her comments on the assignment of Andrei Yurin to the position of the CEO of the Federal Foundation for Compulsory Medical Insurance (FCMI), head of the Ministry of Health and Social Development Tatiana Golikova noted that ‘Economic education and work experience in the financial and economic section in the Government is undoubtedly an advantage for a manager in the FCMI system; performing financial operator’s duties in healthcare is precisely what the foundation does.’ ‘For the last six years, Andrei Vladimirovich [Yurin] has held executive posts at the Department of Intergovernmental Relations of the Ministry of Finance; understanding intergovernmental relations appears a key tool to organize the foundation activities. Moreover, the foundation faces, within the framework of conception of long-term development of healthcare, major objectives to actually transfer the healthcare to compulsory medical insurance, while this means a combination of both increase in financing and establishment of the insurance scheme and informatization in healthcare. Governmental responsibilities to provide medical assistance to people for free must ensure all that, said Tatiana Golikova.
